Dwayne Johnson Reveals That DC's BLACK ADAM Film Starts Production in July
Dwayne Johnson has been attached to play Black Adam for DC Entertainment for years. Black Adam is one of those film projects that has just been lingering around in the background for a long time waiting to be unleashed.
Well, Johnson recently revealed in a tweet that production on the film is set to start in July of 2020! So, the movie is actually really moving forward. This is sure to get DC fans pumped up because there’s been a lot of excitement about seeing Johnson as Black Adam!
Johnson’s tweet was in response to an artist's photo of a sculpture he created of the actor’s version of Black Adam. Johnson said, "The project has been with me for over 10 years. Production begins this July."

The original plan was to introduce Black Adam in Zachary Levi's Shazam! but that changed with the studio thought it would be a better idea for Black Adam to get his own movie before having him face off with Shazam!, which I think was the smart move.
Black Adam producer Hiram Garcia previously talked about Black Adam saying:
"You're going to meet is you're going to meet a character who's going through a journey. He was created as a villain. And through the love of the fans and through some great writers and storytellers, he evolved into an antihero. The antihero is a character that we always loved and that we responded to. But we understand that there's been many aspects to Black Adam through him. But ultimately this is a guy who, he does have a moral compass, as skewed as it may be. And ultimately he is a guy that everything has always been driven by his family and what happens to them and he is never opposed to unleashing hell when you cross him. So, I think when you add in those elements of that DNA, those are things we're very aware of."
Black Adam will be helmed by Jungle Cruise director Jaume Collet-Serra, and it’s expected to start shooting in 2020. Shazam! 2 is expected to start shooting in 2020 as well with David F. Sandberg directing. The two characters will meet in Shazam! 3.
