Dwayne Johnson Will Star in a New Action Comedy Called RED NOTICE and He's Getting $20 Million For It
For the first time in his career, Dwayne Johnson is getting a $20 million dollar payday for a new movie that he's set to star in. The movie is called Red Notice, and it's an action comedy heist thriller that will be written and directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber (Central Intelligence, Skyscraper).
There was apparently a big bidding war between Universal Pictures, Warner Bros., Paramount Pictures, and Sony Pictures on this project and Universal ended up winning it. They will be handing it off to Legendary Pictures.
There aren't any major details on the story but the title, Red Notice, refers to "a notice issued by Interpol (the International Criminal Police Organization) listing persons who are wanted for extradition." So that should tell you a little something about what the story will entail.
Johnson tends to make extremely fun and entertaining films that audiences enjoy and they usually make a ton of money at the box office, so it's not surprising to hear that he's now hit the $20 million dollar mark. I'm more surprised that he wasn't already making this much!
