Each of The Four AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY Trailers Will Reportedly Focus on a Specific Character Including Steve Rogers
Marvel Studios is about to launch into the marketing of Avengers: Doomsday, and the first look might be more intimate than fans expected. With Avatar: Fire and Ash hitting theaters this week, Marvel is reportedly attaching exclusive sneak peeks for the next Marvel event film, and new details suggest they’re short character driven promos.
It was recently reported that Marvel plans to roll out four separate sneak peeks over four weeks, a strategy meant to encourage repeat viewings of James Cameron’s Avatar sequel. That move suggests these previews will be theater exclusives, even if Disney knows full well that phone recorded versions will flood social media almost immediately. Still, this approach has reportedly worked before, and Marvel appears comfortable playing the long game here.
What makes this rollout especially interesting is how these previews are structured. Scooper @MyTimeToShineH shared that each sneak peek is presented from the perspective of a single character. They initially claimed the first would focus on Doctor Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr., but that information was later corrected.
After runtime and trailer insider @Cryptic4KQual pushed back, and @MyTimeToShineH clarified the situation and dropped much more specific details about what fans will see:
“Oh, interesting, so they switched the order. Doom was supposed to go first. Okay, no reason for me to hide it then, or people would think I was BSing.
“The four 'trailers' aren’t really trailers, they’re four short scenes, each focusing on a different character. The one with Steve was originally supposed to be the third, but it looks like it’s going to be the first now.
“It shows Steve riding home on a bike. He has a baby boy. There’s a tagline that reads 'Steve Rogers will return in Avengers: Doomsday' followed by 'December 2026' and then a countdown.
“Since they changed the order, I’m ASSUMING Thor will be the second one now.”
That puts Steve Rogers front and center right out of the gate, followed by Thor, Doctor Doom, and at least one more character Marvel is keeping under wraps for now. Whether this exact order sticks remains to be seen, but it won’t take long for audiences to find out once Avatar: Fire and Ash screenings begin.
Adding more weight to the report, insider Daniel Richtman backed up the Steve Rogers focus while offering his own take on the creative choice:
“Ok, so since Marvel is revealing it themselves, I can also tell you that the first teaser is Steve Rogers–focused and his return is confirmed. The reason is to establish him as the lead character in Avengers Doomsday.
“And I want to be clear, I’m not trying to be negative here. I’ve heard good things about the movie. It’s just that, PERSONALLY, I’m not a fan of this decision. Bringing Steve back? Fine. Making him the FOCUS (alongside RDJ’s Doom)? That’s kind of… ugh.”
The Cap trailer has actually leaked, and it seems like Marvel is clearly positioning Steve Rogers as a central character in Avengers: Doomsday, alongside Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom. That’s a big swing, especially after the emotional farewell Steve received in Avengers: Endgame.
Rather than massive action beats or plot heavy reveals, these scenes sound like mood pieces, carefully setting the stage and hinting at where characters like Cap, Thor, and Doom fit into the larger story. With the movie still a year away, Marvel seems content to tease just enough without showing its hand.
Avengers: Doomsday is currently scheduled to hit theaters on December 18, 2026, with Avengers: Secret Wars following on December 17, 2027. The countdown has officially begun, and it looks like Steve Rogers is leading the charge back into the MCU spotlight.
