Early Concept Art For CAPTAIN MARVEL Shows Very Different Looks For The Hero

Some early pieces of concept art have surfaced for Captain Marvel and they show us some very different designs for the powerful hero and her costume. These designs here have more of a sci-fi look to them than a hero look.

Another early exploration for Vers (Carol Danvers) as an elite Kree pilot. For Captain Marvel the movie. When I’m doing concept proposals I’m usually trying some iterations close to what we know and we see before about the character but also offering some weirder/fresher/surprising versions. This is certainly one. Here I was trying to hide the human root of the character like it’s looking like an alien and then Tadaaaa! It’s a human face! With Brie Larson feature! Basically this approach is focusing on how to surprise the audience. To play with this and to create mystery. Another exploration for Carol Danvers / Captain Marvel as Terran/Kree elite pilote. The color scheme (green and white) and the Planet logo right in the middle of the torso are refering to the first classic look of the Krees. Concept for Captain Marvel. I love my work! I can’t even remember exactly why I did this weird concept for Carol Danvers. Some exploration of a possible Kree look when I was trying to get rid off the human anatomy. Like you know, before the reveal of her face under the helmet you’re believing this is not human but a weird alien. The designs are cool, but they don’t necessarily fit Captain Marvel. In the end, the costume design that they ended up using in the film was perfect.
