Early Concept Art for Gamora Was Very Different

We have all come to love Zoe Saldana’s green-skinned Gamora. However, Gamora almost looked extremely different. Charlie Wen has shared some concept art for 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy, and Gamora almost looked a lot more cyborg-ish and almost came to look very similar to her adopted sister Nebula. I quite like the simpler, green-skinned approach that they went with at the end. What do you think of these old concepts?

What GAMORA from Marvel’s #guardiansofthegalaxy ALMOST looked like (part 2) I played with a modified cloak design mixed with compartmentalized leggings held by simple practical banding. This was to give the feel of an assassin with a mix of the practical and the flashy. In some of these early concepts of Gamora, like Rocket, my responsibility was to create a new design realm for the MCU through designing the characters and key moments, so a lot of my focus was primarily on setting tone and feel for the Guardians series. I ramped up the saturation of colors quite a bit for this film. James (Gunn) and I had been talking about having a colorful space epic. In the beginning, he was very interested in Chris Foss’ space paintings. I reached out to Mr. Foss to see if he would be interested in doing some ship work for us. His colorful ship designs had an enormous impact on the bold colorful graphics on GOTG ships. It may not be apparent, but his work influences the original Star Wars films decades ago. Check out his influential work online! * * * * * * ________________________________________ #Gamora #ConceptArt #MarvelConceptArt #guardiansofthegalaxy #guardiansofthegalaxyvol2 #zoesaldana #GamoraConceptArt #Guardiansofthegalaxyconceptart #thanos #MarvelStudios #MarvelComics #MarvelArt #Comicbooks #Disney #Infinitywar #Avengers #avengers4 #picoftheday #AvengersInfinityWar #thanos #marvelcinematicuniverse #TheMCU
