Early Screenings for THE LEGO MOVIE 2: THE SECOND PART to Hit 500 Theatres Two Weeks Pre-Release

Warner Bros. has announced that they are bringing The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part to theaters two weeks early for a one day screening this Saturday, January 26.

This has been a more widely used practice recently in trying to build buzz for upcoming movies, and is part of the studio’s “Awesome Week” celebration in anticipation of the sequel. Although, with how well the first film and its spin-offs did, and the fan base that has been established with the fans of the Lego movie universe, I doubt they needed to generate more buzz than was already there. I know my family is excited!

The sequel will see original cast members return, including Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy, Jurassic World), Elizabeth Banks (The Hunger Games, Wet Hot American Summer), Will Arnett (Arrested Development, BoJack Horseman), Nick Offerman (Parks and Rec, Bad Times at the El Royale), and Alison Brie (Community, GLOW). New cast members to join the movie are Tiffany Haddish (Girls Trip, Night School), Stephanie Beatriz (Brooklyn Nine-Nine, BoJack Horseman), and Arturo Castro (Narcos, Broad City).

Here’s a synopsis for the movie:

The citizens of Bricksburg face a dangerous new threat when LEGO DUPLO invaders from outer space start to wreck everything in their path. The battle to defeat the enemy and restore harmony to the LEGO universe takes Emmet, Lucy, Batman and the rest of their friends to faraway, unexplored worlds that test their courage and creativity.

Tickets for the preview are on sale now in theaters and wherever you buy tickets online. The LEGO Movie 2 comes out officially on February 8, 2019. Will you try to hit up the preview, or will you be waiting for opening day?
