Emma Stone's EASY A is Getting a Spinoff from Original Writer Burt Royal

I love the film Easy A starring Emma Stone. It’s a fantastic coming-of-age film. That’s why I was so surprised to hear that Burt Royal, the writer for Easy A, is writing the screenplay for a spin-off of the great movie.

This is especially weird since THR is reporting that the film will be set in the same high school and explore the same themes, but it will simply follow a new class of students which makes sense since it’s been nine years since the release of the original. Shouldn’t a spin-off be more than the same movie with different characters?

The film is still in early development, so there’s plenty of time for things to change. In addition, this film will serve as Royal’s directorial debut.
