Ed Sheeran And The Pokémon Company Debut New Pokémon Inspired Song "Celestial"
The Pokémon Company International and Warner Music Group debuted a new Pokémon inspired song by Ed Sheeran, “Celestial”. The music video features a day in the life of Sheeran with appearances from some of his favorite Pokémon including Pikachu, Squirtle, Machamp, Snorlax, and more. The song will appear in the upcoming Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet, launching on November 18. This is a dream come true for Sheeran, who says:
I’ve played Pokémon since I was in primary school… …Me and my brother used to have different versions of the games and would trade Pokémon together ‘til we each completed our Pokédex. I loved the cards but the games are what I lost myself in. I loved the whole world they created; it kept me distracted if there was negative stuff happening in my life/school that I wanted to avoid. It was a world I could escape into and I’ve played it ever since. Even though I'm 31 now, I still own the same Game Boy Color and play Pokémon Yellow or Pokémon Silver on planes and trains when I'm on tour. It’s such an honor to add a song into a Pokémon game and shoot a nostalgic video too. I hope you guys enjoy the song and video - it was a blast to film!
You can tell from the video that Sheeran was really enjoying being able to do this collaboration. I enjoyed the music video, I really liked how they incorporated the Pokémon in by switching everything to animation briefly and then how they put them in real life at the end looked really cool. There’s also a cool homage to Pokémon The First Movie that was fun to see. If you are a fan of Sheeran’s music you will definitely like this song. Check out the video below and let me know what you think.
