Eddie Murphy and Jerry Bruckheimer Already Developing BEVERLY HILLS COP 5
Eddie Murphy is set to return to the role of Axel Foley in Netflix’s Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, and it looks like there are plans for a fifth film that is already being developed.
During a recent interview with Variety, Murphy said: “They’re developing it. If it comes together, we’ll be doing another one.” Producer Jerry Bruckheimer confirmed, “We have a couple of stories in mind.”
First things first, let’s see if this next Beverly Hill Cop movie turns out to be good! If it is, then yeah! I’m all for another film in this action comedy franchise!
Murphy also recalls when the first movie was released in 1984 and why he didn’t think it would be successful, saying: “It didn’t go well. A lot of times at industry screenings they don’t laugh.
“I thought the movie was going to be horrible. I was with [Murphy’s Trading Places director] John Landis and he was like, ‘No, it was great.’ I thought they hated it.
“Then I went and saw it with a real audience and then I saw the real reaction to it. But the very first time it was scary.”
In the film, “Detective Axel Foley is back on the beat in Beverly Hills. After his daughter’s life is threatened, she and Foley team up with a new partner and old pals Billy Rosewood and John Taggart to turn up the heat and uncover a conspiracy.”
Taylour Paige stars as Foley’s criminal defense attorney daughter who pulls her dad into a California-based case – where he’ll cause issues for Kevin Bacon’s LAPD special-unit officer, and team up with a new partner, played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F begins streaming on Netflix on July 3.
