Eddie Murphy and Tim Story Are Developing a New Film Inspired By GRUMPY OLD MEN

Eddie Murphy is attached to star in an upcoming new comedy that is inspired by the 1983 comedy Grumpy Old Men, which starred Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon. The film project is set up at New Line Cinema and Tim Story (Ride Alone, Fantastic Four) is set to direct it.

Grumpy Old Men centers around two lifelong neighbors who have been in a feud since they were kids. The hated each other and that hatred is magnified when a new woman neighbor moves in who leaves each of them smitten.

I imagine this new film will give us a similar story. They have yet to cast someone to star alongside Murphy, but according to Deadline, they may be looking at Samuel L. Jackson.

The last good movie that I saw Eddie Murphy in was Mr. Church. He’s currently working on another film project called Dolemite Is My Name, which sounds like great film project. Murphy plays Rudy Ray Moore in that film, who assumed the role of an iconic pimp named Dolemite during the 1970s.

Murphy had a long string of really bad comedies over the years. I hope that this new untitled film project of his doesn’t end up falling into that category.
