Eddie Redmayne Gives Final Update on His FANTASTIC BEASTS Franchise Suggesting It's Probably Over
The Harry Potter spinoff films in the Fantastic Beasts franchise have seemingly come to a close. The first film, which was released in 2016, was a huge success with fans as well as at the box office.
The first sequel was released in 2018, and it didn’t do as well, but it was enough to keep the franchise going. But the final film in the trilogy, The Secrets of Dumbledore, was a steep decline in box office numbers, causing Warner Bros. to back off from the title.
So it comes as little surprise that the films’ star Eddie Redmayne has essentially confirmed that he probably won’t be back to reprise the role of Newt Scamander. During a recent interview with ComicBook, the actor said:
"I think they probably have [seen the last of Newt]. That was a very frank answer, but yeah. And that's as far as I know.
I mean, you'd have to speak to the people at Warner Bros. and J.K Rowling, but as far as I know, that's it.
I think he may come back in a glimpse in the Universal world in Florida that they're opening up, in which you may catch a glimpse of what he was up to in Paris."
That’s a cool tease for the Harry Potter world within Universal Florida. Maybe whatever they have planned there will give fans some closure on their favorite Fantastic Beasts characters and storylines.
And if you’re hungry for more Harry Potter content, we have the upcoming HBO show to look forward to that will dive even deeper into each book in the series. That will be headed our way in 2026.
