Eddie Redmayne's Assassin Thriller Series THE DAY OF THE JACKAL Renewed for Season 2

Peacock and Sky have announced that Eddie Redmayne’s assassin thriller series The Day of the Jackal will be getting a second season.

The news comes a little over a week about the the series premiered and it sounds like it’s doing really well in the ratings. The Day of the Jackal has been No. 1 in Peacock’s top 10 most watched this week and was a top five streaming original in the U.S. for its opening weekend.

The series is based on the Frederick Forsyth novel, and in the story: “Following his latest kill, he meets his match in a tenacious British intelligence officer (Lashana Lynch) who starts to track down the Jackal in a thrilling cat-and-mouse chase across Europe, leaving destruction in its wake.”

The series is described as “a bold, contemporary re-imagining of the beloved and respected novel and film. While remaining true to the DNA of the original, this contemporary drama will delve deeper into the life of the chameleon like ‘anti-hero’ at the heart of the story, in a high octane, cinematic, globetrotting ‘cat & mouse’ thriller, set amidst the turbulent geo-political landscape of our time.”

I’ve only watched the first episode so far, but it looks like its going to be a solid show! It won me over and I’m on board.

The cast also includes Úrsula Corberó, Charles Dance, Richard Dormer, Chukwudi Iwuji, Lia Williams, Khalid Abdalla, Eleanor Matsuura, Jonjo O’Neill and Sule Rimi.
