Edgar Ramirez Replaces Gerard Butler in POINT BREAK

Alcon Entertainment will replace Gerard Butler with actor Edgar Ramirez in their upcoming Point Break remake. Butler recently left the project due to scheduling conflicts and creative differences. It's interesting that they got someone who has the same kind of look as Butler.

Ramirez will take on the role of Bodhi, who was played by Patrick Swayze in the original film. I'm not really that familiar with the actor, but he recently wrapped filming on the Roberto Duran biopic Hands of Stone, in which he plays the main character alongside Robert DeNiro. The actor also had a supporting role in Zero Dark Thirty and is most well-known for his portrayal of the titular hitman in Carlos the Jackal

Ericson Core (Invincible) is directing the remake from a screenplay written by Kurt Wimmer (Salt, Law Abiding Citizen). The films' producers, Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson, had this to say in a statement:

"We consider Edgar one of the finest actors in the world today, and we are thrilled he will be creating a fresh new take on the iconic character of Bodhi."

I'm sure he's a fine actor, but I'm still not excited for a remake of this movie. Warner Bros. plans to release it on August 7th, 2015.
