Edgar Wright Says There Are Plans For a SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD Animated Project
It looks like Edgar Wright isn’t finished with playing in the world of Scott Pilgrim just yet! While a lot of fans have been hoping to see a sequel to Scott Pilgrim vs. The World one day, the next time we see these loveable characters might be in animated form.
During a recent interview with EW, Wright revealed that there are some plans to revisit the material with an animated project. He said:
“There’s some plans — and there’s nothing official yet — but there are some plans to revisit the material in an animation way. We’ve been talking with [creator] Bryan [Lee O’Malley] and with [executive producer] Jared [LeBoff] for a while [about]: What if we did something with the books in anime form? It’s being discussed as we speak.”
I would love to see that happen! A Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World anime series would be ridiculously wild and fun! Lee O’Malley would also like to revisit the characters such as Scott Pilgrim, Ramona Flowers, and the rest of the eclectic exes that populated the pop-culture infused world he created. He teased:
“I would like to revisit the characters [in comic form] and see what they’re up to. I sketched Scott early in the pandemic with a huge beard. I think that would be a funny image.”
I’m sure that the fans of the comic would love to see O’Malley revisit these characters. So, while we may not get a feature film sequel to Scott Pilgrim, we still might get an animated series, which would be equally as amazing.
The movie is celebrating its 10th anniversary in August.
