Edgar Wright's Psychological Horror Film LAST NIGHT IN SOHO Pulled From Release Schedule
This shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone, but Edgar Wright‘s psychological horror movie Last Night in Soho has been pulled off the release schedule by Focus Features.
The movie was set for release on September 25, 2020. But I guess the studio didn’t want to compete with the wave of movies that will be released in theaters that month after movie theaters have reopened. There’s no word on when the movie will be released.
We don’t know much about the film, but we do know that it’s set in London’s Soho district and will also take place in the 1960s and modern day. It stars Anya Taylor-Joy and Thomasin McKenzie.
Taylor-Joy will play a character in the 1960s set part of the film while McKenzie is said to star in the modern-day scenes as a fashion student. We don’t know how these characters are connected or what the reason is behind the story being set in two different time periods.
When previously talking about the film, Wright described the film as being in the vein of Donald Sutherland’s 1973 film Don’t Look Now and Roman Polanski’s 1965 movie Repulsion. He also went on to say:
“I realized I had never made a film about central London – specifically Soho, somewhere I’ve spent a huge amount of time in the last 25 years. With Hot Fuzz and Shaun Of The Dead you make movies about places you’ve lived in. This movie is about the London I’ve existed in.”
On a recent episode of MTV’s “Happy Sad Confused” podcast, Taylor-Joy provided a brief tease of the film saying:
“Not to say much about the movie, but when I watch bits of it back in ADR or whatever I am disturbed. It’s very claustrophobic. The colors are so intense. It’s a really well-directed acid trip. I think people will really like it. You definitely will not be bored.”
The film also has a great supporting cast that includes Matt Smith, Michael Ajao, Synnøve Karlsen, Diana Rigg, Terence Stamp, and Rita Tushingham.
