EDGE OF TOMORROW Director Doug Liman To Direct The Sci-Fi Adventure Film UNEARTHED
Director Doug Liman (Edge of Tomorrow) is about to take on a new sci-fi film project called Unearthed. The film is based on an upcoming YA novel, and Columbia Pictures picked up the rights from its authors Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner.
This actually sounds like a pretty cool and adventurous sci-fi story. Variety gives us a breakdown of what that story entails:
Set in a distant future where Earth has been undone by environmental disaster, Unearthed sees a scholar and a scavenger reluctantly team up to venture to the planet of a now-extinct alien race. With the promise of a salve for Earth, the two must work together to explore an ancient alien temple and finds its life-altering secrets. But the deeper they go, the more the two discover they may not be helping Earth, but rather hastening its destruction.
This could be a great project for Liman to take on and I think he will end up giving us a cool sci-fi film. At least I hope he does! Before Liman starts work on this film he'll direct Chaos Walking with Daisy Ridley. He also has his Tom Cruise film, American Made, coming out later this fall.
