Edward Furlong Comments on His Upcoming Role in TERMINATOR: DARK FATE
One of the most surprising revelations at San Diego Comic-Con this year was the moment that James Cameron video conferenced the crowd at Hall H during the Terminator: Dark Fate panel and told the crowd that he was excited to have Edward Furlong back for the film that they are saying is a direct sequel to 1991 film, Terminator 2: Judgement Day. The crowd went wild. Furlong was the young teenage son of Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) and was so fantastic in that movie. He went on to star in the 1998 film American History X, and gave another fantastic performance, but then kind of fell off the map. It was said he fell on hard times with an addiction problem, although he did keep acting, just in B films that no one was watching.
To have him back feels like maybe he has his life together, and I’m really happy for him. He was a great actor, and I don’t think this movie would be the same without him. At a recent panel for the upcoming film at Silicon Valley Comic-Con, TheArnoldFans asked Furlong what he could say about his return to the franchise. Here’s what he had to say:
I’m not allowed to say anything, but yeah, yeah man, I mean it’s a small role but it’s, you know, I’m in there, man! I’m in there. I’m glad to be back on it, I’m really, really happy to be doing it.
That’s awesome! Of course he can’t say much. It was shocking to even hear he was going to be in it, and he was nowhere to be seen in the trailer and footage we got to see at the convention, so it sounds like it will all be a surprise. And although it’s a small role, it’s awesome all the same. Furlong was supposed to be in the 2003 film, Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, but wasn’t at a place in his life to be able to accept the role. He now sees how he messed it all up and is very repentant and grateful for this opportunity. Here’s what he said about it:
It was like a blessing man. I was very excited you know, like really, uh, yeah I was trying to turn my life around at that point – so I mean it was uh, it was kinda a good call to get, you know? It kinda felt like a gift from all that you know, plus I was supposed to do the other Terminator but I done fucked that shit up, So I gotta tell you, I was proud.
I’m so excited for this movie. It looks so badass! Terminator: Dark Fate hits theaters on November 1. Are you stoked?!
