EIGHTH GRADE Star Elsie Fisher Joins THE ADDAMS FAMILY Animated Film
Elsie Fisher was absolutely wonderful in the film Eighth Grade. If you haven't seen that movie yet, you should watch it because it's seriously a great film. Fisher has now joined MGM's upcoming animated film adaptation of The Addams Family. This is her first film gig since starring in Eighth Grade and it's great to see her jump on board another film project.
The film will be based on the classic work of cartoonist Charles Addams, and Fisher joins the previously cast Oscar Isaac as Gomez, Charlize Theron as Morticia, Chloe Grace Moretz as Wednesday, Finn Wolfhard as Pugsley, Nick Kroll as Uncle Fester, Bette Midler as the grandmother and Allison Janney as nemesis Margaux Needler. Fisher will voice Parker Needler, the daughter of Margaux.
With a cast like this, it makes me wonder why they are even doing an animated film! This cast would also work as live action versions of the characters.
Based on the famous New Yorker creations of Charles Addams, this animated action-comedy will follow the Addams family whose lives begin to unravel when they face-off against a crafty reality-TV host while also preparing for their extended family to arrive for a major celebration, Addams-style.
Morticia, devilishly devoted to her husband and children, is the pale glue that holds her clan together. Gomez, debonair, sinister and passionately in love with his wife, is enthusiastic about whatever dreadful scheme he’s cooked up. Wednesday is a brilliant and sinister teenage girl with long braids and dead-pan wit. Pugsley, a menacing 10 year old on over-drive, enjoys getting into any kind of dreadful mischief he can find. Mad Uncle Fester is good natured, merry and likes to create mayhem any way he can. Grandmama is smitten with her grandchildren who enjoy her cookies shaped like bats and skulls. Margaux Needler, the reality TV makeover queen, is consumed with a desire for absolute suburban, pastel perfection.
The movie is being directed by Conrad Vernon (Shrek 2, Monsters vs. Aliens, Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted) and Greg Tiernan (Thomas & Friends, Day of the Diesels) from a script written by Matt Lieberman.
The movie will be released on October 18, 2019.
