Elizabeth Olsen is an Axe Murderer in Trailer For HBO's True Crime Drama LOVE & DEATH
HBO Max has shared the first trailer for its upcoming true crime drama Love & Death, which stars Elizabeth Olsen as Candy Montgomery, a churchgoing suburban housewife who starts to have an affair, which leads to her becoming an axe-murdering killer.
The series is inspired by the book Evidence of Love: A True Story of Passion and Death in the Suburbs, and a collection of articles from Texas Monthly (“Love & Death in Silicon Prairie, Part I & II”). This is based on a true story and people sure do enjoy true crime stories these days! This one is a fascinating yet tragic story, and it looks like Olsen delivers a great performance. This must’ve been an interesting role for her to take on.
The story follows “two church-going couples, enjoying small-town family life in Texas (or, at least they do until somebody picks up an axe). The series is based on the true story of Texas housewife Candy Montgomery, who murdered her friend from church, Betty Gore, with an axe in 1980.”
The limited series also stars Jesse Plemons as Allan Gore, Lily Rabe as Betty Gore, Krysten Ritter as Sherry Cleckler, Patrick Fugit as Pat Montgomery, Keir Gilchrist as Pastor Ron Adams, Elizabeth Marvel as Pastor Jackie Ponder, and Tom Pelphrey as Don Crowder.
Love and Death is being written and executive produced by David E. Kelley with Lesli Linka Glatter (Mad Men) set to direct. Executive producers are Glatter, Nicole Kidman, and Per Saari through Blossom Films, Scott Brown and Megan Creydt through Texas Monthly, Matthew Tinker, Michael Klick, and Helen Verno. Lionsgate will produce the limited series.
Love & Death will premiere with the first three episodes on HBO Max on April 27th.
