Before Elizabeth Olsen jumped into the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Wanda Maximoff, a.k.a. The Scarlet Witch, she attempted to land a lead role in HBO’s Game of Thrones series. The actress recently shared that she auditioned for the role of Daenerys Targaryen, but it did not go well.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Olsen shared her experience saying:

“I auditioned for, like, the assistant to the casting director in a small room in New York with just a camera on me and them reading the script. I was doing the Khaleesi speech when she comes out of the fire. It was awful. I didn’t get a callback.”

In a previous interview with Vanity Fair she also shared, “They didn’t know if they wanted a British accent or not. So, you did it in both. It was terrible. Anytime someone says, ‘Bad audition story.’ That’s one I remember.”

As you know, Emilia Clarke ended up landing the role, and she ended up being awesome in the series. As for Olsen, well, she ended up being just fine. She’s landing all kinds of great roles, and her Marvel job is sure to keep her busy for years to come.
