Elizabeth Olsen Talks About What She'd Like to See in Scarlet Witch's Future and Hopes for Some Redemption
Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch has had such a cool character arc throughout the MCU, starting with a post-credits scene in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, with her story filling out in Avengers: Age of Ultron, and bringing us through the films all the way to Disney+’s Marvel kickoff, and one of the best MCU series, WandaVision. Then we really got to see what the Scarlet Witch could do in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, when Wanda turned full-on bad guy and fought to get her parallel universe kids back, no matter the cost.
That brings us up to where we left off with the character, at the end of Multiverse of Madness, where she was defeated by Strange, backing down in the realization that she didn’t want to be the villain she had become. So where do we go from here with Wanda? What does her future entail? If Elizabeth Olsen has anything to say about it, she will be back, and Wanda will have a redemptive storyline, maybe even with some humor added in.
In a recent interview with ScreenRant at the SXSW film festival, Olsen explained her hopes for the character, saying:
“We can do anything with her now! I feel like we've done so much. Now, we can really have fun; I feel like there's a lot more humor to be had with her. She's often the emotion of a story, and I'm curious to see what we can explore. And hopefully [we can] give her some redemption.”
I really hope to see her character redeemed as well. It would be amazing to give her some peace and joy after all she’s been through. She’s lost her brother, her love, her kids, all of them seemingly multiple times! I hope we can see her happy again.
