Elizabeth Olsen Wants Marvel Studios to Adapt the Controversial House of M Storyline

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has already brought some of the most legendary comic book events to the big screen. Fans have seen massive arcs like Age of Ultron, Civil War, and the reality-shattering Infinity War form the backbone of the MCU’s storytelling.

With Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars set to close out the Multiverse Saga, it’s clear Marvel Studios is continuing to draw from classic comics while preparing to merge mutants and the X-Men into the main timeline.

That opens the door for bold, risky storylines to finally be adapted and one MCU star has her eye on a particularly infamous one.

During a ComicCon LA panel alongside Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen made it clear she wants to see one of Wanda Maximoff’s most defining arcs brought to life.

“I think House of M is just the coolest. I just think it could be so fun to deal with X-Men and Avengers and ‘No more mutants.’ It would be fun.”

For those who may not know, House of M was a 2005 Marvel Comics crossover event that flipped the universe on its head.

Struggling with grief and mental instability, Wanda warped reality into a world where mutants were the dominant species and every hero lived in their ideal life.

The storyline ended in one of the most shocking moments in Marvel history, with Wanda uttering the devastating phrase “No more mutants,” instantly wiping out most of the mutant population and leaving the X-Men reeling for years.

Adapting House of M in the MCU could be incredibly exciting, though timing would be tricky. Mutants and the X-Men are just being introduced to the franchise, so reducing their numbers before they’ve even been established might not land the same way it did in the comics.

Still, the concept of Wanda reshaping reality on such a massive scale feels right at home in Marvel’s current multiverse-driven storytelling.

Of course, for House of M to happen, Wanda would first need to return. The Scarlet Witch was last seen in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, seemingly sacrificing herself by collapsing Mount Wundagore and destroying every copy of the Darkhold.

Many fans, however, aren’t convinced she’s gone for good. That speculation has only intensified with Agatha All Along on Disney+, which reintroduced Wanda’s son, Wiccan, played by Joe Locke.

At the same ComicCon LA panel, Olsen offered a little more fuel to the fire when discussing Marvel’s future.

“I hope we continue to surprise ourselves and the audience. I think that’s what keeps people coming back, is not to rely on old tricks. So that’s what I hope for.”

Her use of the word “we” feels like a strong hint that she’s not finished with Marvel just yet. If Wanda does return, Marvel has plenty of story options on the table.

The introduction of Wiccan sets the stage for a possible Children’s Crusade adaptation, which followed the Young Avengers’ quest to find and redeem Wanda.

Meanwhile, her recent role as the main villain in Marvel’s animated Zombies series proves that the character is still a favorite among fans and storytellers alike.

Whether Marvel Studios actually adapts House of M remains to be seen, but Olsen’s enthusiasm makes it clear she’s ready to dive back into the MCU, possibly leading to Wanda’s most powerful and heartbreaking stories.
