Elle Fanning to Star in New Hulu Series THE GIRL FROM PLAINVILLE about a "Texting-Suicide" Case
Elle Fanning, who stars in the Hulu series The Great, has landed the lead role in another Hulu series titled The Girl From Plainville. The limited-series is inspired by the true-life story of Michelle Carter, who was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in June 2017 in a controversial "texting-suicide" case.
The series will use an Esquire article, which has the same title as the series, written by Jesse Barron as its source material. The series will “explore the relationship between Carter and Conrad Roy III, the events that led to his death and her controversial conviction.” Carter ended up serving 11 months of a 15-month sentence after exhausting appeals in the case.
The series will be executive produced by Liz Hannah (The Post, The Dropout) and Patrick Macmanus (Dr. Death), who will also serve as co-showrunners.
Fanning is a super talented young actress, and this is going to be a perfect project for her to take on.
