Emilia Clarke's Character in Marvel's SECRET INVASION Series Reportedly Revealed
Some new details have emerged regarding the character Emilia Clarke will be playing in Marvel’s upcoming series Secret Invasion. It was exciting news to learn that Clarke was going to be joining the MCU, and thanks to geek movie insider Daniel Richtman, we’ve learned that Clarke could very well be playing a Skrull character named G’iah/Gloria Warner.
Created by Robbie Thompson and Nico Henrichon, G'iah made her Marvel Comics debut in Meet the Skrulls #1 in 2019. G'iah initially helped the Skrulls with their invasion of other planets, but she eventually switched sides after seeing the pure brutality that her people were willing to use in order to accomplish their goals. I assume that elements of the comics will be worked into the story for Secret Invasion in some ways.
The upcoming series stars Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Ben Mendelsohn as Talos, Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill, Kingsley Ben-Adir (Peaky Blinders), Killian Scott (Love/Hate), Carmen Ejogo (Fantastic Beasts), Christopher McDonald (Ballers), and Olivia Colman (The Crown). Don Cheadle’s War Machine also shows up in the series!
Secret Invasion “centers on Fury and Talos — who first met during the events of ‘Captain Marvel’ — and a faction of shape-shifting Skrulls who have been infiltrating Earth for years.”
Marvel shared a trailer for the series at Comic-Con last month, and it looks like it could end up being a great show! I liked what I saw, but we’ll just have to wait and see how the story plays out over the course of the series.
Based on Brian Michael Bendis, Leinil Francis Yu, Mark Morales, and Laura Martin’s comic book series, Secret Invasion is executive produced by Kyle Bradstreet (Mr. Robot), with Let Him Go director Thomas Bezucha and Ali Selim (The Looming Tower) set as directors.
