Eminem Samples KINGDOM HEARTS Theme In New Album
Eminem's surprise album has yet another surprise for the geek community, as if the song for the upcoming Venom movie wasn't enough. Fans are now noticing the song "Good Guy," contains a connection to the Kingdom Hearts franchise, as singer Utada Hikaru's vocals on "Simple and Clean," can be heard in the background:
As for how that sample happened, Eminem apparently didn't have much to do with it. That was more the work of producer Illadaproducer, who talked about the sample more in a Rolling Stone interview:
That’s me doing my video game thing. Kingdom Hearts. It’s a Japanese videogame, and that’s the theme song from it. It’s one of the dopest melodies I’ve ever heard. Shout out Japanese videogames and Japanimation for inspiration. Filtered it, did some chops, did some processing to it. I basically made it unrecognizable, but I know they would have still found it. That’s why we had to deal with the clearance. But when I do anything I try to make it to where it’s not fully recognizable.
Are you a fan of the original song? I'm fine with the slower version, but I always preferred the club mix much more. Let us know what you think of Utada Hikaru, Eminem, or the current state of the music industry in general in the comments below.
