Emma Roberts and Tom Ellis to Star in and Produce Dark Dramedy Series THE SECOND WIFE at Hulu

A new series is in development at Hulu titled The Second Wife, which will star Emma Roberts (Holidate, American Horror Story) and Tom Ellis (Lucifer, The Great North). The pair will executive produce the series, which is described as a darkly comedic half-hour, alongside the show’s creator, Meaghan Oppenheimer (Tell Me Lies, Queen America), who will showrun as well.

Roberts executive produced Oppenheimer’s breakout hit, Tell Me Lies, through her Belletrist TV banner, and the series also reunites Ellis with Hulu and 20th TV; he stars in their upcoming limited series Washington Black.

Second Wife is a romantic dramedy about the ups and downs of a blended family. Fresh off a terrible breakup, Sasha (Roberts) flees her life in New York to start over in London, where she meets and quickly falls in love with a recently divorced father named Jacob (Ellis). When they impulsively decide to get married, they will soon learn that there’s a lot they don’t know about each other – and they can’t outrun their pasts forever. Darkly comedic in tone, Second Wife is an exploration of intimacy, failure, and second chances.”

The series marks the first creative collaboration between husband-and-wife duo Ellis and Oppenheimer and draws some parallels to their story.

Everyone in this series is connected in one way or another, which is pretty cool. It’s nice that they found collaborators they trust and enjoy working with. This sounds like it could be a good story, so we will keep you posted on it as it develops.
