Emma Roberts Joins Sony's MADAME WEB Marvel Movie
Emma Roberts is joining Dakota Johnson in Sony Pictures’ upcoming Marvel film project Madame Web. Roberts also joins the previously cast Sydney Sweeney, Celeste O’Connor, Isabela Merced, and Tahar Rahim. There’s no information on who Roberts is playing in the film, but I like her, and I’m sure she’ll be great in whatever role she takes on.
The film is said to be an origin story for Madame Web, “a clairvoyant whose psychic abilities allow her to see within the spider world itself.” In the comics, Madame Web is “an elderly blind woman suffering from a chronic neuromuscular disease that makes it difficult to move and breathe, and as such, she’s connected to a life support system that looks like a spider web. The clairvoyant character has precognitive abilities and once helped Spider-Man find a kidnap victim.”
S.J. Clarkson (Jessica Jones and The Defenders) is directing the film, with Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless writing the script. They previously wrote Morbius, so… you know., that doesn’t bode well for the film. But, we’ll see.
