Emma Stone Offers an Update on CRUELLA 2 - "Hopefully Sooner, Rather Than Later"
Disney Cruella was a great film and one of my favorite live-action adaptations that Disney Studios has made. That was just a really well-made and fun movie, and the studio has been working on trying to get a sequel made.
The director of the first film Craig Gillespie and writer Tony McNamara are returning to tell the next chapter of the story. Emma Stone is also set to reprise her role as Cruella, and during an interview with Variety, she offered an update on where the sequel currently stands:
“Hopefully sooner, rather than later. There’s a work in progress kind of thing going on. Yeah, yeah. We’ll see… She’s a blast, so we’ll see.”
While it would be fun to see the Cruella story continue, it would also be fine if we never got a sequel. That first film stands strong on its own.
Cruella, which is set in 1970s London amidst the punk rock revolution, “follows a young grifter named Estella, a clever and creative girl determined to make a name for herself with her designs. She befriends a pair of young thieves who appreciate her appetite for mischief, and together they are able to build a life for themselves on the London streets. One day, Estella’s flair for fashion catches the eye of the Baroness von Hellman, a fashion legend who is devastatingly chic and terrifyingly haute. But their relationship sets in motion a course of events and revelations that will cause Estella to embrace her wicked side and become the raucous, fashionable and revenge-bent Cruella.”
Would you want to see a Cruella sequel get made?
