Emotional Trailer for Peter Berg and Mark Wahlberg's PATRIOTS DAY

Director Peter Berg and Mark Wahlberg have teamed up for another film project, and this time they will tell the harrowing story of the 2013 bombing at the finish line of the Boston Marathon. The movie is called Patriots Day, and today we have the first emotional trailer for you to watch.

The movie features an impressive supporting cast that includes Kevin Bacon, John Goodman, J.K. Simmons, and Michell Monaghan. Here's the official synopsis:

In the aftermath of an unspeakable attack, Police Sergeant Tommy Saunders (Wahlberg) joins courageous survivors, first responders and investigators in a race against the clock to hunt down the bombers before they strike again. Weaving together the stories of Special Agent Richard DesLauriers (Bacon), Police Commissioner Ed Davis (Goodman), Sergeant Jeffrey Pugliese (Simmons) and nurse Carol Saunders (Monaghan) this visceral and unflinching chronicle captures the suspense of one of the most sophisticated manhunts in law enforcement history and celebrates the strength of the people of Boston.

Berg and Wahlberg most recently worked on the film Deepwater Horizon, which is a great film that you have to see if you haven't already. It's incredibly intense! These two talents tend to make great movies together, so I'm sure Patriots Day is going to turn out to be a great and powerful film.

It's set to open in theaters in Boston, New York, and Los Angeles on December 21st and will then get a wide release on January 13th. They're obviously hoping to get some Oscar love.
