Emotionally Charged New Trailer For Sterling K. Brown's Upcoming Drama WAVES

For those of you looking for an emotionally devastating movie to watch, writer and director Trey Edward Shults has the perfect film for you! It’s called Waves and it definitely doesn’t look like it’s going to be the feel-good movie of the year.

Waves is set in South Florida, and it follows the emotional journey of an African-American family as they navigate love, forgiveness, and coming together in the aftermath of a loss. The film has been described as "a heartrending story about the universal capacity for compassion and growth even in the darkest of times." It’s also said the movie will “tear your heart out.” While it looks like a powerful film, I just hope the film ends on some kind of an uplifting note! I don’t want to leave the theater feeling completely depressed!

The movie stars Sterling K. Brown, Kelvin Harrison, Jr., Lucas Hedges, Taylor Russell, and Alexa Demie, along with Renée Elise Goldsberry. It also features a musical score by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. Here’s the synopsis:

"We are not afforded the luxury of being average," says Ronald; his upwardly mobile, African American family is anything but. A win-at-all-costs father, Ronald (Sterling K. Brown) drives his son Tyler (Kelvin Harrison Jr.) to new heights in school and in sports. But after Tyler unravels, his sister Emily (Taylor Russell) is left to reconstruct her life amidst the ruins of her once-enviable family.

Waves will be released in select theaters on November 1st, 2019. Watch the trailer and let us know if you’ll head to the theater to watch it.
