Emperor Palpatine Confirmed To Appear in STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER

I think it was pretty evident at the end of the trailer for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker when we hear that cackling laugh that it was Emperor Palpatine. The fact that actor Ian McDiarmid also made a surprise appearance during The Rise of Skywalker presentation at Star Wars Celebration seemed to cement the fact that Palpatine would be in the movie.

Well, there are fans that still aren’t sure and are questioning if Palpatine really is in the movie or not. For those of you who haven’t made up your mind, director J.J. Abrams confirmed that Palpatine will be in the film.

James Dyer of Empire Magazine talked to Abrams after the panel at Star Wars Celebration, and said:

“In case there’s any lingering ambiguity from the trailer (and McDiarmid’s appearance at the panel!), I can 100% confirm that Palpatine is back in The Rise Of Skywalker as I just asked JJ. He’s thrilled - and slightly incredulous- that McDiarmid’s presence on set didn’t leak.”

I actually love the fact that Palpatine will be included in the story! For me it makes complete sense that he would play a part in this story. He’s played a huge part of the Skywalker story from the very beginning, so of course he has to play a part in the conclusion!

What part will he play? How will he fit into the story? I have no idea! At this point, all we can do is speculate and wonder if everything that he foresaw is going to come to pass. What is his relation to Rey? Is Rey really a Skywalker!?

There are so many questions I need to have answered and those answers will come on December 20th!
