Empire Pays Tribute to Steven Spielberg with Covers Featuring READY PLAYER ONE and Four Other Classic Films
With Steven Spielberg's highly-anticipated Ready Player One being released next month, Empire Magazine is paying tribute to the iconic director with five magazine covers. Those covers pay homage to a few of the classic films of the director including Jaws, Raiders of the Lost Ark, E.T., Saving Private Ryan, and Ready Player One, which is a story that pays tribute to the golden age of Spielberg films.
I don't know about you, but Steven Spielberg is the reason why I love movies. Watching E.T. in the movie theater in 1982 when I was a kid changed my life. That is one of my earliest movie memories and from that moment on I was hooked on movies.
I love everything that I've seen from Ready One Player and I really hope that the movie delivers on all levels of greatness. If you haven't watched the latest trailer yet, watch it here! Looks like we'll be getting some more information on the film when this issue of Empire is released:
The film is set in 2045, with the world on the brink of chaos and collapse. But the people have found salvation in the OASIS, an expansive virtual reality universe created by the brilliant and eccentric James Halliday (Mark Rylance). When Halliday dies, he leaves his immense fortune to the first person to find a digital Easter egg he has hidden somewhere in the OASIS, sparking a contest that grips the entire world. When an unlikely young hero named Wade Watts (Tye Sheridan) decides to join the contest, he is hurled into a breakneck, reality-bending treasure hunt through a fantastical universe of mystery, discovery and danger.
The movie stars Tye Sheridan, Olivia Cooke, Mark Rylance, Simon Pegg, T.J. Miller, Hannah John-Kamen and Ben Mendelsohn.
Ready Player One gets its game on when it opens on March 29, 2018.
