ENCHANTED 2 Still In The Works at Disney, New Title Revealed
Enchanted was something of a surprise hit back in 2007 when it made over $340 million worldwide on an $85 million budget. Disney began developing a sequel back in 2010, and a couple of years ago we heard an update about new writers coming on board the project, but it's been quiet since then. Now Collider is reporting that the movie is still in the works, and it has a new title: Disenchanted.
Anne Fletcher (The Proposal, The Guilt Trip) is still attached to direct, but it's unclear who's on writing duty at this stage in the project's development. Also unclear is which members, if any, from the original cast might come back to reprise their roles. The original film, which used a delightful blend of live-action and animation to tell a story about an animated Disney Princess who came to life in New York City, starred Amy Adams, James Marsden, Patrick Dempsey, Idina Menzel, and Susan Sarandon. Adams has seemed open to the idea of returning in the past, but we'll have to see how the timing on this works out; I'm speculating here, but by the time the script gets where it needs to be and this film receives an official greenlight from Disney, she may be too busy starring as Lois Lane in the two-part Justice League movies to return here. Hopefully she'll be able to fit it in sometime down the line.
