English Trailer For China's Massive $2 Billion+ Animated Fantasy Film Hit NE ZHA 2

A24 Has released the first English trailer for China’s animated fantasy film Ne Zha 2, which has made over $2 billion at the box office, mostly in China alone. It’s now the highest-grossing animated film of all time and it looks like a great film and I’m excited to see it!

In the film, “a rebellious young boy, Ne Zha, is feared by the gods and born to mortal parents with wild, uncontrolled powers. Now he's faced with an ancient force intent on destroying humanity, he must grow up to become the hero the world needs.”

The film, directed by Yang Yu, and Michelle Yeoh lends her voice to the project. She shared her enthusiasm about joining the cast:

“I’m honored to be part of Ne Zha 2, a landmark in Chinese animation and a powerful reminder of how universal our stories can be,” said Yeoh.

“Sharing this with audiences in English is such a joy, and I can’t wait for everyone to experience the wonder, heart, spectacular artistry, and magic of this film on the big screen.”

The movie also stars Vincent Rodriguez III, Aleks Le, Damien Haas, and Crystal Lee.

The English-language release is a collaboration between A24 and CMC Pictures, which boasts a global distribution network covering over 100 countries and 500 cities.

CMC has long been at the forefront of expanding Chinese cinema beyond its borders, previously backing titles like The Meg series and co-producing animated hits through its sister company Pearl Studio (Kung Fu Panda 3, Abominable, Over the Moon).

The movie will hit US theaters on August 22nd.
