Epic Full Trailer Unleashed for HOUSE OF THE DRAGON Season 2 - "War Is Coming"
HBO has released an epic full trailer for Season 2 of its fantasy epic House of the Dragon. The trailer dropped not long after the trailer for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power hit the internet.
The HBO marketing team obviously looked at that and thought, “Oh yeah… look what we’ve got.” But hey, there’s room for multiple epic fantasy shows! I’ll be watching both of them, and Season 2 of House of the Dragon looks incredible!
The series is based on George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood series, which is set 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones and tells the story of House Targaryen. It’s setting up the epic war between the Targaryens and the Hightowers.
When previously talking about what fans can expect from Season 2, director Clare Kilner said: "There are eight wonderful episodes with so much happening in every episode.
“We have trouble, at times, bringing them down to one hour. (Showrunner) Ryan Condal's decision was to give it a good opening and a good ending, and they're jam-packed with emotional and visually exciting events."
Kilner added: "I'm excited to pick up where we left off. Now we get to fall into the more traditional rhythms of storytelling and Game of Thrones. We've always talked about this particular tale, George [R.R. Martin] has too, of being a Shakespearean or Greek tragedy.
“This series is very much about a house tearing itself apart from within. Now that all those pieces have been set on the board, I'm really excited to tell the next chapter, to see what happens now that Viserys is gone and no longer keeping a lid on things."
The Season 2 returning cast is Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Eve Best, Steve Toussaint, Fabien Frankel, Ewan Mitchell, Tom Glynn-Carney, Sonoya Mizuno, and Rhys Ifans. Additional returning cast includes Harry Collett, Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Phia Saban, Jefferson Hall, and Matthew Needham.
New cast members include Abubakar Salim as Alyn of Hull, Gayle Rankin as Alys Rivers, Freddie Fox as Ser Gwayne Hightower, Simon Russell Beale as Ser Simon Strong, Clinton Liberty as Addam of Hull, Jamie Kenna as Ser Alfred Broome, Kieran Bew as Hugh, Tom Bennett as Ulf, Tom Taylor as Lord Cregan Stark, and Vincent Regan as Ser Rickard Thorne.
House of the Dragon Season 2 premieres on HBO and Max on June 16th.
