ETERNALS Director Chloé Zhao Set to Helm a Sci-Fi Western DRACULA Film for Universal
Universal Pictures is developing an interesting-sounding monster movie. It’s an original Dracula-snpired film that is said to be a “futuristic sci-fi western.”
The director of Marvel’s Eternals, Chloé Zhao, is set to write, direct, and produce the film through her production company Highwayman. She said in a statement:
“I’ve always been fascinated by vampires and the concept of the Other they embody. I’m very excited to work with Donna, Peter and the team at Universal to reimagine such a beloved character.”
Peter Cramer, President, Universal Pictures added:
“Chloé’s singular lens shines a light on stories of the overlooked and misunderstood. We are thrilled to be working with her as she reimagines one of the most iconic outsider characters ever created.”
There are no details regarding the story that the film will tell, but the concept of a futuristic sci-fi Dracula western is intriguing. The project has my attention and I’m excited to see what comes of it!
This wouldn’t be the first time a Dracula western was made. In 1966 a movie was released titled Billy the Kid Vs. Dracula. The image above comes from the poster of that film.
