ETERNALS Director Confirms Mystery Voice in Post-Credits Scene is a Big MCU Character
I’m going to be talking about one of the post-credits scenes of Marvel’s Eternals, so if you haven’t see the movie yet, you might want to skip this because of spoilers. But if you just don’t care and you want to know what in the heck is going one, then by all means, proceed.
The second post-credits scene in Eternals puts a focus on Kit Harrington’s character Dane and teases his future on the MCU as Black Knight.
The final scene shows him in his classroom at the university, where he opens a case that contains a pivotal family heirloom, the Ebony Blade. As Dane strongly considers taking up the blade so that he can embark on a journey to save Sersei (Gemma Chan), who was taken to face the judgment of the Celestials for destroying the newborn Celestial, Tiamut, and saving Earth from destruction.
As Dane stares at the Ebony Blade, he hears a voice in the room, asking him if he is truly ready to take up the mystical sword. A lot of the people in the theater were confused by who this character might be because we don’t see him. I personally thought it was Doctor Strange, but I was wrong.
Eternals director Chloe Zhao has revealed in an interview with Fandom that the voice is actually Mahershala Ali's Blade! This was his first introduction to the MCU. The filmmaker said:
"That was the voice of one of my favorite superheroes, Mr. Blade himself. Blade, Blade, Blade, yeah!"
So there ya go! I’m excited about Blade and it would make sense that maybe the next time we see Kit Harrington’s Dane, it will be in Marvel’s Blade. It’ll be fun to see how the story arcs for these characters end up playing out.
