ETERNALS Sequel Rumored to Be in the Works at Marvel With Story to Center Around [Spoiler]
Rumors about Marvel’s sequel Eternals 2 have been floating around the internet since the first film was released, but we never heard anything completely set in stone aside from actors who said they were planning on returning to the next chapter of the story. The first film was released two years ago, and it was a critical bomb for the studio, as the movie came up against a post-pandemic audience, and an unimpressed fanbase. But we may have some news about a sequel, as the executives may be looking to redeem themselves to the fans of the Eternals comic book lore.
Keep in mind that this is all rumor for now, but Comic Book reports that reliable industry scooper Daniel Richtman is reporting that Eternals 2 is currently in development at Marvel Studios. Even more interesting is the claim that Richard Madden will return as Ikaris!
As you'll likely recall, the group's leader was revealed as the Eternals' true villain before coming to the realization that he couldn't kill more of his fellow immortals. Ikaris left Earth and appeared to end his life by flying into the sun, so that makes his return pretty astounding!
The report goes on to say that shortly before last year's San Diego Comic-Con, several trademark filings by Marvel Studios leaked online (with most announced to be on the way during the event). Among them was Celestials: End of Time, suggesting it could be tied to the wider Multiverse Saga and time travel.
What do you think about all this news? What could the sequel do to make you excited to see it as a fan?
