ETERNALS Star Barry Keoghan Says He Wants a Druig Standalone Movie
Barry Keoghan is one of Hollywood’s busiest actors right now, churching out one film after another, while simultaneously putting in the work to make a lot of content, all while still making thoughtful career choices, getting him recognized for the roles he takes on. One such role was that of Druig in the Marvel bomb Eternals. While the film did not do well with fans or critics, his part seemed overall well done and well received.
Druig’s character can manipulate all forms of matter and energy, including the atoms of his own body, teleport, control the minds of others, project energy from his body (usually from the hands or eyes), and manipulate gravity to fly, and if that’s not cool enough, he is also pretty charming, which is why fans rooted for the love story in the film between Druig and Makkari (Lauren Ridloff) even more than the main characters’.
Despite the failing of the film, Keoghan says he’d still like to move forward with a film that focuses on his character. In a recent interview with GQ, the actor broke down his iconic movie roles, and said:
“I’d love to see a movie of him just playing about, mind-controlling everyone. No real motive, just mind-controlling for the sake of it. Prep for that is, you’re doing superhero movies, so you gotta humanize them. Don’t play for the superhero. Try and bring the human side of them out.”
I would be interested in seeing this. I was one of the few people that didn’t hate Eternals, though I did think it had flaws, and think it could have been a lot better. But if we can’t see another film with a new writer/director, I wouldn’t mind seeing something standalone with Druig. What do you think?
