Ethan Hawke Joins Julia Roberts in the Netflix Thriller LEAVE THE WORLD BEHIND
Ethan Hawke is set to star alongside Julia Roberts and Mahershala Ali in Netflix’s upcoming thriller Leave the World Behind. Also joining the cast is Myha’la Herrold (Bodies, Bodies, Bodies).
The series is based on Rumaan Alam’s novel, and it’s “a story about two families, strangers to each other, who are forced together on a long weekend gone terribly wrong.” Hawke will take on the role of Roberts’ husband, Herrold will play Ali’s daughter, and Kiera Armstrong and Charlie Evans will play Roberts and Hawke’s children.
Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmail adapted the novel and he will also direct and produce. The book is described as “suspenseful and provocative” and “ keenly attuned to the complexities of parenthood, race and class. It explores how our closest bonds are reshaped — and unexpected new ones are forged — in moments of crisis.”
Hawke is always an actor who keeps himself busy. He’s constantly working and he most recently wrapped production on Marvel’s Moon Knight. He can be seen in Robert Eggers’ The Northman and also in the upcoming sequel, Knives Out 2.
