Ethan Hawke Will Re-team with Director Scott Derrickson for THE BLACK PHONE
Ethan Hawke is joining Scott Derrickson’s upcoming horror thriller The Black Phone. The two previously worked together on the horror film Sinister.
The Black Phone is a feature film adaptation of a short story by Joe Hill, and the script was written by Derrickson, C. Robert Cargill, and Graham Clegg.
The story is about a kidnapped boy who receives calls from the dead on a disconnected phone while he is locked in a soundproof basement. The synopsis for the short story reads:
John Finney is locked in a basement that’s stained with the blood of half a dozen other murdered children. In the cellar with him is an antique telephone, long since disconnected, but which rings at night with calls from the dead…
This is a great story that is going to make for an exciting film, and it’s the perfect project for Derrickson to take on. Hawke will join the previously cast Jeremy Davies (Saving Private Ryan, Justified).
