Evan Peters Discusses Quicksilver and How He's Changed in X-MEN: DARK PHOENIX
Evan Peters' Quicksilver will be racing back into action in director Simon Kinberg's upcoming X-Men: Dark Phoenix. I've really enjoyed this film version of the character and the way that Peters has played him. He had the best scenes in both Days of Future Past and Apocalypse.
During a recent interview with ScreenRant, Peters talks about Quicksilver and how he's changed for Dark Phoenix. Things are going to be a little different for the character this next time around. He explains that Quicksilver has done a little growing up.
"He's definitely a little older and more mature, a little more subdued, sort of trying to make a, not a name but trying to do right by the X-Men and be a good guy and use his powers for good, so I think he's on that path at the moment."
It makes sense that the character would mature over time. I hope that Quicksilver plays a good sized role in this next movie and I can't wait to see what kind of crazy scene that they have planned for him this time!
Quicksilver was most recently spotted in Deadpool 2. It was just a brief cameo, but one that brought on some big laughs. Peters talked about that scene in a previous interview with CinemaBlend, saying:
"We were shooting [X-Men: Dark Phoenix] and were like, 'Okay, we're going to do a quick thing for Deadpool 2,' And I was like, 'Oh, that's awesome!' I thought it was going to be at the end of the film, in the credits, like some sort of funny Easter egg thing. And we had a lot of different versions for when they open that door and turn to us. But the one they used was pretty chill, and was in the first half of the film, which I was like, 'Oh, Jesus, that's kind of weird.'"
X-Men: Dark Phoenix is said to be a grounded film that is loyal to the comics. The film is set in 1992, "roughly a decade after Apocalypse and finds the X-Men dealing with being heroes. An unfortunate side effect is how that fuels Charles Xavier's (James McAvoy) ego. He starts sending the team on more dangerous missions, including one to space that ends with Grey going to some very dark places."
Jean Grey begins to develop incredible powers that corrupt and turn it into a Dark Phoenix. Mystique, Beast, Storm, Nightcrawler and the rest of the X-Men spring into action when a malevolent, power-hungry force threatens to overtake Jean Grey’s mind.
X-Men: Dark Phoenix also stars Michael Fassbender, Sophie Turner, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult and Jessica Chastain. It opens on February 14, 2019.
