EVIL DEAD 2 - Fede Alvarez Is Not Directing

If you remember, Evil Dead director Fede Alvarez was very excited and enthusiastic about the Evil Dead franchise and making a sequel that would eventually lead to integrating the remake world with the original. He even announced he was working on a script for the sequel at one point. Unfortunately, Alverez has dropped out of the project and is no longer developing it. The news comes from the co-writer of the film, Rodo Sayagues who told Gorosito.TV the following,

"Look, I am sorry to tell you this but that movie won’t happen. Evil Dead 2 is not going to happen, at least not with us involved. We left that project many months ago because we preferred to put our energies on other things. I don’t know if the producers still have intentions of making it. But what I can tell you is that we are not part of that project."

There seemed to be so much excitement and momentum on the project, and then all of a sudden nothing. I wonder if there's more to the story than that, maybe some kind of hidden Hollywood politics. I really do hope we eventually see a sequel to the remake though. I really enjoyed the movie, and I'd love to see more of those on top of the continuation of the Army of Darkness films. I think there are several other directors out there talented enough to take on the sequel id Sam Raimi shepherds the project.

Would you want to see a sequel to the Evil Dead remake, and do you care if Alvarez isn't involved with it?  Via: STYD
