EVIL DEAD BURN First Clip Unleashes a Deadite Nightmare and Teases More Deadite Chaos

The first clip from Evil Dead Burn has arrived, and the footage offers a nasty little taste of what's waiting for horror fans when the next chapter of the Evil Dead franchise hits theaters this summer.

The scene centers on a young woman who has fallen under Deadite control, and things get disturbing fast as she casually drinks hot candle wax. It's the kind of moment that makes you physically recoil while watching, which is exactly the kind of reaction longtime Evil Dead fans have come to expect from the franchise.

This is probably only scratching the surface of the madness that awaits. The clip escalates when the possessed woman is locked away in the basement, seemingly contained for the moment.

Of course, in an Evil Dead movie, things are never that simple. Before long, another Deadite appears outside the house, and this one looks considerably more threatening than the wax-guzzling victim we've just met. As if that wasn't enough, the creature arrives with a demonic dog by its side.

The official synopsis promises that "Evil Dead Burn unleashes the franchise's most savage and terrifying ride to date, blazing onto big screens with an all-new chapter of carnage and demonic mayhem.

"After the loss of her husband, a woman seeks solace with her in-laws in their secluded family home," it continues. "As one by one they are transformed into Deadites—turning the gathering into a family reunion from hell—she comes to discover that the vows she took in life live on...even in death."

The Evil Dead franchise has been terrifying audiences for more than four decades. Sam Raimi launched the series with 1981's The Evil Dead, which followed a group of friends who accidentally unleashed demonic forces while staying at an isolated cabin in the woods. The story continued with Evil Dead II in 1987 before concluding Raimi's original trilogy with Army of Darkness in 1992.

The franchise returned in 2013 with Evil Dead from Fede Álvarez, followed by 2023's Evil Dead Rise from Lee Cronin, both proving that the Book of the Dead still had plenty of nightmares left to unleash.

The future of the series is already taking shape as well. Evil Dead Wrath is currently scheduled to arrive on April 7, 2028. The film will be written and directed by Francis Galluppi, known for The Last Stop in Yuma County, and will tell another standalone story connected to the infamous Book of the Dead.

For now, all eyes are on Evil Dead Burn, which stars Souheila Yacoub, Tandi Wright, Hunter Doohan, Luciane Buchanan, Errol Shand, George Pullar, Maude Davey, and Greta Van Den Brink.

Evil Dead Burn opens in theaters on July 10.
