EVIL DEAD's Ash Williams Is Back and Heading to Riverdale in New Archie Crossover
Ash Williams has chainsawed his way through Deadites, demons, and even alternate timelines, but his next battle might be the weirdest yet. The horror-comedy legend from Evil Dead is officially crossing paths with Archie Comics in a wild new crossover event.
Fans of the Evil Dead franchise know Ash is no stranger to comic book chaos. Over the years, he’s teamed up with Xena, Vampirella, and Red Sonja, and even taken on horror heavyweights Jason Voorhees and Freddy Krueger. But now, he’s trading the cabin in the woods for milkshakes at Pop’s and hallways of Riverdale High.
The project comes from Dynamite Entertainment in collaboration with Archie Comics, and it promises to bring the Necronomicon’s horrors straight into the unsuspecting town of Riverdale.
Archie and the gang have tangled with supernatural trouble before, but this time, Ash is bringing his boomstick along to keep the Deadites at bay.
Jamie L. Rotante, Archie Comics Senior Director of Editorial, teased what’s ahead, saying:
“Ash Williams has seen it all: demonic forces, time travel, monstrous doppelgänger. But Ash might be in for his toughest battle yet: fighting a horde of Deadites alongside a group of teenagers!
“Thankfully, Archie and his friends are no strangers to the undead. And we couldn’t be more excited for everyone to see what madness will ensue!”
That “madness” is exactly what fans can expect. The crossover will be a mix of horror and campy fun, staying true to both franchises’ unique styles.
Nick Barrucci, Dynamite CEO and Publisher, also expressed his excitement for the project:
“It’s always a blast to collaborate with other titans of the industry. We’re excited to be back in business with Archie and the whole Riverdale crew, cooking up some exciting stories and more for fans. Leading off with the franchise that started it all for us at Dynamite was the perfect choice.”
With Ash Williams stepping into Riverdale, readers can look forward to chainsaw-swinging mayhem, Deadite battles in the high school halls, and plenty of over-the-top moments.
It’s the kind of crossover I didn’t see coming, but now that it’s happening, it seems like it could be a lot of fun!
