Ewan McGregor Wants to Return as Obi-Wan in Andor Season 3 - “There's Always a Chance if Disney is Listening”
Fans have been impressed with the two season Star Wars series, Andor, which told the story of thief-turned-rebel spy Cassian Andor during the five formative years leading up to the events of the film Rogue One.
The second season wrapped up just before the movie begins, but one fan (and Star Wars actor) would like to see the show continue.
Ewan McGregor, who played Obi-Wan Kenobi in the prequel trilogy and the character’s self-named limited series, commented on Andor while attending Fan Expo in Canada (via Collider).
McGregor praised the series and stated that he wanted to be part of a potential Season 3. The actor stated that he watched the second season and “thought it was great,” and it got him stewing.
“I got really excited. I was thinking, ‘I think I’m in this timeline. I think I could be in Season 3.’ I was super excited, and then I realized, ‘Oh no.’ So anyway, maybe if there was, I could have squeezed in there, if only.
“There’s always a chance that maybe there’s a story that’s happening at the same time where it kind of crosses over. So there’s always a chance if Disney is listening — hypothetically, hypothetically. Come on, Disney.”
The show’s creator, Tony Gilroy, was clear about having a two-season arc for the series, which would lead into the film fans are familiar with. McGregor further stated that he missed the show when it first came out, but added:
“I always come to things later. It’s just the way I am. If everybody’s talking about something, I’m like, ‘Yeah, I’ll see that later.’ And then when I watch it, you know, a year later, I’m like, ‘This is really good.’ And it was like, ‘Yeah, that’s what we were all saying a year ago.’
“But I did. I watched Andor and I watched the first episode of it at home with my little boy, and then I realized what everyone was talking about.”
I don’t think a third season will happen, but I think it’s fun that McGregor tries to get back into Star Wars any chance he gets. Would you like to see Obi-Wan Kenobi return in any of the Star Wars properties?
