Exciting New TV Spot and Featurette For READY PLAYER ONE Includes New Footage and More!
If you're pumped up about Steven Spielberg's film adaptation of Ready Player One, I've got a couple of new treats for you to feast on today! We have a new TV spot for you to watch which has got a few bits of cool new footage! There's also a featurette that not only offers even more footage but also includes Spielberg and author Ernest Cline talking about bringing this epic pop culture story to life and how it may have never happened without the influence of Spielberg's classic films.
Guys... I know you've heard it a hundred times from me already, but I am super stupid excited about this movie. This story just resonates with me in every way because the geek culture is in my blood. I know the film isn't going to be a point by point adaptation of the book, but you know what I don't care. As much as I love the book, as long as the film tells a great story and carries the spirit of the book that's all that matters.
The film is set in 2045, with the world on the brink of chaos and collapse. But the people have found salvation in the OASIS, an expansive virtual reality universe created by the brilliant and eccentric James Halliday (Mark Rylance). When Halliday dies, he leaves his immense fortune to the first person to find a digital Easter egg he has hidden somewhere in the OASIS, sparking a contest that grips the entire world. When an unlikely young hero named Wade Watts (Tye Sheridan) decides to join the contest, he is hurled into a breakneck, reality-bending treasure hunt through a fantastical universe of mystery, discovery and danger.
Ready Player One stars Tye Sheridan, Olivia Cooke, Mark Rylance, Simon Pegg, T.J. Miller, Hannah John-Kamen and Ben Mendelsohn.
Ready Player One gets its game on when it opens on March 30, 2018.
