FACES OF DEATH Drops Brutal Red-Band Trailer Packed With Gratuitous Violence

If you’ve been waiting for something unapologetically gnarly to shake up the horror scene, Faces of Death is coming in hot with lots of blodd and gore.

Shudder and IFC have unleashed a new red-band trailer for the film, and it’s exactly what fans of the infamous original would hope for, raw, disturbing, and leaning hard into the chaos.

This new take on Faces of Death doesn’t just rehash the shock value of the original, it builds on it in a way that feels very now. The trailer reveals a world where the original VHS tape exists as a real piece of media, and now its horrors are being recreated and circulated for clicks and engagement.

It’s a interesting hook that taps into the dark corners of internet culture while delivering the kind of violent imagery that made the franchise notorious in the first place. There’s even a moment where Charli XCX shows up and seems to be fully embracing the madness.

The film centers on a content moderator played by Barbie Ferreira, who stumbles across videos that look disturbingly familiar. As the line between staged and real begins to blur, things spiral fast. The official synopsis explains:

Faces of Death continues the exploration of the original film’s infamous ‘Is it real or not?’ conceit, as a woman (Barbie Ferreira) working as a content moderator for a major video platform discovers what appears to be re-enactments of murders from the original film. In an online world where nothing can be trusted, she must determine whether the violence is fiction or unfolding in real time.”

This is going to be a tense psychological ride, and the trailer is loaded with intense, graphic sequences that push things into uncomfortable territory. It feels like a mix of social commentary and straight-up horror spectacle, which should hit a sweet spot for fans looking for something a little more extreme.

The film is directed by Daniel Goldhaber, known for CAM, and co-written with Isa Mazze, which already gives it some credibility when it comes to exploring digital identity and online spaces. The cast also includes Dacre Montgomery, Josie Totah, and Jermaine Fowler.

Fair warning, the red-band trailer is age-gated, so you’ll need to click through to check it out. But if you’re into horror that doesn’t hold back and aren’t afraid of some seriously graphic material, this looks like one to keep on your radar.

The movie hits theaters on April 10, and based on what’s been teased, it’s not pulling any punches.
