FAIRYLAND Trailer Tells a Beautifully Crafted Story of Love, Loss, and Identity with Scoot McNairy and Emilia Jones
The first trailer for the Sofia Coppola-produced Fairyland has been released, and it delivers an emotional gut-punch wrapped in a vibrant coming-of-age story.
Based on Alysia Abbott’s memoir, the film is written and directed by Andrew Durham and follows a young girl's evolving relationship with her father amidst the colorful yet turbulent cultural waves of 1970s and ’80s San Francisco.
Emilia Jones stars as Alysia, with Scoot McNairy as her father, a gay man navigating life, love, and fatherhood through eras of artistic freedom and the devastating shadow of the AIDS crisis.
The cast also includes Cody Fern, Maria Bakalova, Bella Murphy, Geena Davis, Adam Lambert, and newcomer Nessa Dougherty.
The trailer showcases a stunning blend of warmth, heartbreak, and resilience as it dives into themes of self-discovery, chosen family, and the fragility of time.
McNairy’s performance in particular looks powerful, and the film's tone is grounded in authenticity. It’s looking like one of the most emotionally resonant indie films of the year.
The movie will be released in theaters on October 10th.
