Fan Theory Says Mysterio Is Telling the Truth and Suggests We May Be Seeing Double in SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME

It’s so fun to theorize on our favorite MCU characters before the next film comes out. The filmmakers do a great job of paying homage to the comics while also keeping us on our toes with surprises, twists, and plot turns. Since the trailer released for Spider-Man: Far From Home, fans have been speculating about the nature of the character Mysterio, played by Jake Gyllenhaal. The character of Mysterio, aka Quentin Black, is historically a bad guy, but in the trailer he is fighting alongside Nick Fury and Spider-Man and is seemingly a good guy. So many say he is just posing as a good guy. Classic bad guy move. But that seems too simple.

A Reddit user by the name of u/ResidentSwimming posted a fan theory that may fit the story just right. Here’s what they had to say:

It's painfully obvious that Mysterio is the secret villain behind the elementals, so obvious that I think it's a misdirect. I think writers who are smart enough to write Homecoming would be aware of how obvious this is and use it to their advantage.

I believe Mysterio is actually who he says he is; he's actually from another dimension, he actually has magical powers, and he's actually fighting actual elemental monsters.

However if Quentin Beck Mysterio is from another dimension, wouldn't that mean there's a Quentin Beck from our home dimension? Maybe our Quentin doesn't have any magical powers but is the special effects master we know from the comics. Maybe seeing himself from another dimension as a super hero gives him the idea to secretly take him out and take his place!

Just a thought, it's still very likely they're just gonna go with the obvious twist.

That makes perfect sense! They did briefly mention in the trailer that Beck is from Earth… just not ours. So where is the Beck from our dimension? It sounds like this movie is going to get into some pretty big concepts, and I can’t wait to dig in! What do you think of this theory?

Spider-Man: Far From Home flies into theaters on July 2nd.
